The Atrium House

The house was built in 1966, as a model home for Columbia. Designed by James Hilleary (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hilleary) , a Washington DC architect and painter it won a Superior Architecture award from the Potomac Valley Chapter of the Maryland Institute of Architects.

When we walked in to see the house , we knew it is our home. The contemporary feel of the mid-century style home reminded us of the houses we grew up with in Germany. We moved into the Atrium House in the Winter of 2006.

The house was not in good shape, neither in design nor in finish. We have tried to make it a modern home with the original midcentury appeal, which included rebuilding walls and adding new bathrooms. See for yourself (https://hermindmagazine.com/spec-to-spectacular/).
